Alex & Fanny on 2023 & 2022:
“In 2022 the volume wasn’t bad but 2023 was better. We were fortunate that our parcels didn’t get any of the hail in 2023. The fermentations of the 2022s went really well – they were over quite quickly – we had slightly shorter maceration and all went well. The wines were bottled in July and August with one large bottling for all.”

2022 Alex Foillard, Côte de Brouilly
These first two were bottled in the summer
Hmm – a modest width of aroma – it’s a little tight. In the mouth, there is width and a delicious darker red fruit – nice precision and super length. Lovely wine…

2022 Alex Foillard, Brouilly
On a hill so more structured than his Côte de Brouilly. Old vines over 60 years old, some over 80.
Also a smaller nose but with a calm width of red fruit. Supple, slowly mobile flavour – of fine but balanced concentration – balanced with a fine energy – there’s even a little graphite in the finishing flavour. Very tasty again…

2022 Jean Foillard, Morgon Cuvée Corcelette
Granite here and very sandy – this brings the fruit and the flowers.
A more airy perfume – these are really pretty aromatics. Extra sweetness, full-flavoured, mouth-filling wine – the finish is also quite sweet – lots of ripe fruit here. Really delicious and impressively long.

2022 Jean Foillard, Morgon Côte de Py
A smaller nose, again with a core of pretty perfume. More direct and cool fruit to start with – still plenty of sweetness to this fruit. Intense and more mineral in the finish – wow – I could drink these wines today – maybe tonight – excellent wine!
