Jeanne on 2023:
Apart from one parcel which was hailed three times and then had some Suzuki(!) – we are really happy! The balance is very good and we had more volume as the 2022 vintgae was a smaller volume for us. Quite late harvesting 10 Sept for a hot year.

Jeanne on 2022:
As mentioned, 2022 was a small volume here but with lovely wines – we can blame our old vines and another hot vintage – but seemingly not too hot to give balance. We had one big rain – 14th August, and little else on either side of that but it was enough to ensure the ripening of the grapes. I don’t know if the vines are acclimatising but it was a very hot vintage – and that includes the harvest too. The wines have been bottled for about 6 weeks. We kept the wines in barrel longer due to the heat of the vintage. And will commercialise later too – maybe in another 2-3 years – for instance, we are now selling 21 but haven’t yet released the 2020s – we’ll wait until we think they are ready.

The wines…

A knockout range – bravo!

2022 Fleurie La Madone
Lots of colour. This is very floral and attractive – the nose is mainly darker fruit but with an airy balance. Panoramic – juicy too – long, faintly savoury finishing – that’s got a beautiful line of finishing flavour.

2022 Fleurie Droit de Véto
Fleurie from then Marrans sector
That’s even more floral. Rounder, ripe but so fresh – the finish vibrant and absolutely delicious – already a great wine.
2022 Morgon
Three terroirs with separate elevage.
A breadth of perfumed aroma – with the impression of cushioning – hmm, that’s simply gorgeous. More direct, more ‘Morgon’ I love the sweeping style and shape of this – that’s so juicy but architectural like a great Morgon should be. Intense, dark fruit finishing. Top – that will be a great wine and like all of these I would happily drink them today.
