Antoine on 2023:
It was a super harvest – my best since I started. They fermented really well too – 12.5-13° and nice balance with good colour – a little less concentrated than 2020 – but with the heatwave of the harvest you could say that it helped as there were plenty of grapes to ripen. We bought all the headlamps in Decathlon so we could harvest at 1am in the cool – it was a great ambience – we finished around lunchtime as it was far too warm in the afternoons!

Antoine on 2022:
A bit less volume – 40 hl/ha – which is still good for vines over 50 years old, goblet pruned. Also some heatwave – we started harvesting 20th August – 12-12.5° harvested – which is my aim.

In 2024, everything here will be certified organic-

The wines…

A really great range in 2022 – A super address!

2022 Beaujolais Vliiages Gamay Poursuite
‘It’s actually Regnié – but I already have enough cuvéées of Regnié’ – this bottled in April, after tank elevage with a small pre-bottling dose of sulfur.
A narrow nose, but with a pretty red-fruited freshness. Hmm – broad, clean, and what purity of energetic flavour – what a simply great ‘entry wine’ – dangerous wine!

2022 Régnié
All the old vines in front of the domaine from 3ha – a little longer maceration 8-10 days. Half tank elevage and half old (8-10-year-old) 228-l barrels. Bottled in June after 8 months of elevage.
Extra depth of colour. A pretty red fruit nose is a good invitation. Broader, a little more architecture. Extra depth to this flavour – beautiful slightly darker fruit. Mouth-watering, nearly juicy flavour – yes again – what a brilliantly drinkable wine!

2022 Morgon
This has been an organic plot for about 15 years – all old vines – 70-year-old vines. More alluvial soils here.
A different style of redder fruit. Really wide – a slightly more structured red fruited shape to this wine, pretty flavours. I’d keep it for a couple of years as the architecture is more visible but still a delicious wine.

2022 Régnié Montmeronts
A cuvée since 2018 but had the vines since 2014. Bottled in October.
This starts aromatically calmer but below there’s a nice vibration of aroma. Hmm – here is a beautiful width of flavour – after the Morgon this is clearly more elegant and has a suggestion of barrel too – but perfumed and delicious wait 2-3 years for this – another beauty.

Agree? Disagree? Anything you'd like to add?
