Audrey on 2023:
“We had some hail at the start of July – the harvest looked magnificent but then the hail hit the vines from the side – we also had some weeks of dryness that caused the vines to stress – at the end of August a bit of rain helped and we harvested later. The volume really isn’t enough but we have a lovely quality after ‘the triage done by the hail.’ We had half a harvest in 22 and only slightly more in 23.”
Audrey on 2022:
“In 2022 we suffered from the dryness – about half a harvest which given that we had no rain, we can consider it as almost a success. Less easy to ferment than the 23s and the 23s are a bit more Beaujolais as the 22s are more concentrated. We had easily 13° for the 22s more like 12.5° for the 2023s. The market isn’t really much of a question for us at the moment as practically all is sold as we have so little wine.”

Practically every year there is a great wine or two in this domaine’s selection – this year it was all of them – bravo !!
Beaujolais written on the back label.
Concentrated dark fruit, faintly spicy. Large scale in the mouth, faintly framed with a grain of tannin. This is concentrated but it is balanced too – that’s a great BJ!
Again Beaujolais on the back label. Older vines on a hillside – classic fermented, semi-carbonic with whole clusters.
An inky depth of colour. But a nose of freshness and ease – elegance. In the mouth also really concentrated – there’s tannin but there’s no grain here. Extra delicious finishing – that’s a great BJ too!
This the barrel-aged wine. They didn’t make this in 21.
Large-scaled aromatics – that’s a super nose, framed with some barrel references today. Large in the mouth – like the last – but in this case rounder, and with the tiniest grain of tannin – faintly drying but if you wait a couple of years all will be fine. The oak is modest but very attractive in this long finish. Be patient but it will be another great wine in 3+ years…

2022 Beaujolais Blanc Authentique
Barrel elevage, 228-litres, none new.
A little toasty and quite deep aromatics. Supple, framed with a little fine tannin, like the reds. Slowly fading. Also concentrated but with enough balance so that it’s not too generous – no rigour just sumptuous ripe fruit.
