“2023 harvesting came in the second week of September – and, fortunately, it was a little cooler than the first week, even with a little rain. As for 2022, there wasn’t really a big difference in volume vs 2023.”

A very good range !!
2021 Beaujolais Villages Blanc Chardonnay les Voleurs
80% tank and some older barrels for elevage.
Hmm – a good width of freshness with a small generosity. A good core of not too ripe fruit – intensity of finishing flavour – and good length. Ripe but tasty wine…
2021 Beaujolais Villages Blanc Granit
All barrel elevage but a short elevage – bottled in February – and it’s almost sold out – ‘but for me, the apogee is still a year away…’
A less forward but more attractive width of aroma. Supple, and quite silky too – this has an apricot and pear style of fruit, and a strong finishing width – it holds very well in the finish.
Les Reds:
2022 Beaujolais Villages Gamay de Guigui
A width of slightly saline, also slightly savoury aromas. In the mouth, airy, juicy and with super texture – a wine that expands into the finishing flavours – that’s a very lovely finish.
2022 Morgon Les Charmes
Nearly 80 year-old vines, all destemmed. Barrel elevage with a mix of sizes.
Fuller, also a rounder nose – faintly cushioned with some barrel spice. Energy and a growing intensity here – the finish is very 22 with a fine, juicy, energy.
The rest of the 22s won’t be commercialised for 2 years – what is commercial is this – commercialised after the 2021s:
2020 Régnié Crêt d’Oeillat
Ooh – that’s a nice width of aroma – slightly granular complexity and even a little floral. But this slides beautifully onto the palate – starting narrow, incisive almost, but widening in the middle and even more in the finish – a beautifully floral finish. That’s a lovely wine – simply super!
2020 Morgon Corcelettes
Already some complexity of aromatic development – some violet florals too. A width of silky flavour on the palate – not too ripe and again super silky texture. A burst of finishing intensity that surprises… That’s a super wine again!
Not yet ready but for the curiosity: “Maybe the 23s will be ready before the 22s let’s see:“
2022 Régnié Crêt d’Oeillat
Bottled in July
A width od silky aroma – subtly reductive. In the mouth this is energetic and has concentration too – a little more grain of tannin showing and like thew 2020 and impressive finishing intensity – complex with florals too – I think that’s excellent – you should wait another year or two – it anyway wont be commercial until then – so all good!
2022 Morgon Grand Charmette
This a blend of the Grand Charmes and Corcelettes… ‘I think it brings less monotone’
More overt fruit character together with fine depth. Airy, flighty, broad – impressively intense – and beautiful finish – wrapped in perfume, almost a little cherry stone here too – a super wine, completely excellent – yum!
