Quentin on 2023:
In 2023, about 10% of our vines were touched by hail – not too bad! I think it a good year and it brought a decent volume. We started started with a good charge of grapes – though less cleanliness than in 2022 – of course, because of the hail. It wasn’t a catastrophe in 23 but 22 was easier!

Quentin on 2022:
Yes, all good in 2022 – the volume too – as we have some young vines, and they produce, and there was the famous rain that came and brought more balance. The fermentations were not always easy but I think we have a nice quality, only that the work in the cuverie was more complicated due to slightly higher volatiles – not analytically too much – but it needed our attention.

The wines…

A consistently fine result each year at this domaine…

2022 Régnié
450m high – sandy, granitic soil – in fact, all the domaine is very sandy.
A nose of high tones and a faint spice. Broad, a juicy almost panoramic width of energetic flavour. The finish showing a little more structure but it’s also dark-fruited and juicy. That’s a lovely wine, and you will want to take another glass.

2022 Morgon
From Grand Cras
Here is a more open width of aroma – the fruit is quite generous and fresh. Supple, the acidity is more visible – the style more direct but with a super line of flavour – almost silky – there’s a very tiny grain of tannin – but only if you want to search for it – classy and classic – yum!

2022 Beaujolais-Lantignié
The parcels in front of the house.
Directly the most open and perfumed wine – that’s really lovely. Hmm, large scale – extra freshness – the finish fading faster than in the crus, but silky, delicious, and quite energetic wine.

And a white:

2022 Beaujolais-Lantignié Blanc
Quite old chardonnay vines for Beaujolais – 34 years old. ‘We normally aim for 40-45 hl/ha’
Quite a width of almost beeswax aromatics. Hmm, there’s a direct and mineral side to this wine – not too sweet or ripe – that guides you towards the mouth-watering finish. There’s some strictness rather than a rigour (that I don’t much like) still a wine for the table more than for apero. Very good – a serious wine – in the best sense!
