Olivier on 2022:
Yes very happy! In terms of volume it’s better than 2021 when I just did 20 hl/ha – I managed 30 hl/ha in 2022. I made my first harvest 08 August – but for crémant then I waited for the others – I finished 03 Sept – the highest was 14.7° for the Brouilly!

Olivier on 2021:
The losses were principally down to the frost – 70% – all the parcels that were not frosted got some hail! That was the 7th July. Brouilly is sold out the following remain, all 80% destemmed – a few days less maceration in 2021 too – to dry and avoid anything green…

The wines…

A very fine range and the Moulin à Vent is worth a little extra search!

2021 Côte de Brouilly La Poyabade
A climate opposite Thivin – between Thivin and Robert Perroud. Not yet bottled – but soon (ish!)
That’s got nice bright and pure red berries – very lovely. In the mouth there’s both volume and plenty of fine red fruit – this is super wine without a hint of green. I would say young – rather than austere – so wait 6-12 months but Super!

2021 Morgon Corcelette
A little less colour despite the same destemming and even just a little extra maceration. Hmm, that’s very perfumed. In the mouth too – there’s some architecture here and faint tannin but the flavours are of perfumed fruit. This could be really excellent!

2021 Moulin à Vent Vieilles-Vignes
The only one of these reds that has been bottled – it was done in June – ‘it was ready!’ Vines from 1945 – a small parcel in Chénas – plain south-facing, looking towards Fleurie
Also very perfumed but with extra-deep aromatics – no reduction – that’s also something of a perfumed beauty. Fluid, complex, again such a perfumed fruit. Slightly creamy finishing – no barrel here though. Bravo!

Le Blanc:

2021 Beaujolais Pierres Dorées
A small amount of barrel elevage – none new – and only for 3-4 months. All from argilo-calcaire soils here in the south.
Wide, fresh and with nice energy – good! Supple, more generous than the nose suggests – maybe a little round for my taste but delicious wine with – other than the round shape – no trace (flavour) of the barrels – Excellent BJB!
