“Were very happy with the quality of 2022 – 35 hl/ha – the Nouveau sold very well for us too – we will be starting in March to bottle some. 2021 was a good harvest here – more than in 2022, it was almost a normal volume of 45-50 hl/ha – no frost and not too much mildew so we did okay. The weather was quite good leading up to the vintage – which was good as there was a lot less sun before that!”

Practically every year there is a great wine or two in this domaine’s selection – as this year!
These 2021s were bottled from the end of February to the start of March 22:
2021 Beaujolais Villages Cuvée Seduction Gamay Noir
Beaujolais on the back label.
An airy freshness but there’s some intent from the more coy fruit below. Density, the flavour slowly melting over the palate – supple, very nicely textured – just a little tannic velour. That’s a really super wine.
Again Beaujolais on the back label. Older vines on a hillside – classic fermented, semi-carbonic with whole clusters.
A little more depth here. Silken and concentrated – a very fluid style to this – the fruit is clear as a bell – more silky. Plenty of concentration – bravo!
There’s no Cuvée Ancestrale in this vintage. They are pushing this more for the exceptional vintages now…
2021 Beaujolais Rosé Séduction
That’s a fine perfume – slightly mineral and floral. Supple, pink fruit, broad and a little mineral in the middle and finish – not quite rigour but a hint more strict – very good!

2021 Beaujolais Blanc Séduction de Chardonnay
A nicely airy and fresh nose – not too much exotic here! Generous, silky but still mineral – I’d like a bit more energy but this is a lovely, calm, delicious, generous wine.
2021 Beaujolais Blanc Authentique
Bottled in November. Barrel elevage, 228-litres, none new.
A round, obviously oaked nose. Direct, mineral, almost a hint more freshness but a flavour profile today that showcases the barrels – maybe in 3 years it will be much more interesting.
