Quentin on 2022:
“Yes, all good in 2022 – the volume too – as we have some young vines, and they produce, and there was the famous rain that came and brought more balance. The fermentations were not always easy but I think we have a nice quality – very, very good even – I don’t think I’ve made better.”
Quentin on 2021:
21 was very wet – the growth started very early but we were not affected by the frost. A good technical maturity but not so phenolically – the skins were fragile and grapes were often falling from the stems. We could have waited longer – we started at the end of September but I think the wines are typically Beaujolais with not too much alcohol. The wines are all reserved…
The wines…
Good wines in 2021!
2021 Morgon
From Grand Cras
An easy, fine width of red fruit with a small, interesting, vibration of energy. Width of fresh flavour – quite juicy, open, easy – not a wine of concentration but one of mouth-watering energy – all correct and tasty!
2021 Régnié
450m high – sandy, granitic soil – in fact, all the domaine is very sandy.
Hmm – narrow but also a little more perfumed. Broader and more intense – lovely berry fruit here. Really rather juicy and moreish – the acidity is obvious but halfway through the first sip you no-longer notice – you just want to take another sip!
2021 Beaujolais-Lantignié
The parcels in front of the house.
This also shows plenty of freshness and here a bit more width too. Also plenty of acidity – like the Régnié – but also a wine that finds its place, a little more tannin showing. I really like the finishing panorama OF flavours but there’s a slight austerity to this structure that would have me waiting 12 months before returning – clean and fine – all these wines without greens!
