Prunelle on 2021:
“2021 – most is sold. I don’t make a lot. It was a very rainy year. I think that a year of elevage and was very good for the wines – they only started expressing themselves towards the end of that elevage.”

A small range but lovely wines in 2021…

2021 Beaujolais-Lantignié
A really deep nose, almost a little padded – opening out more and becoming quite silky. Hmm – that is fine and supple – growing from a core and filling out the palate – darker fruit, faintly tannic but not drying. That’s a super wine.

2021 Régnié
This wine is deeper, with less aromatic width but really interesting and slowly opening with some floral style – nice perfume. Larger scale in the mouth – structural and faintly tannic too – then broad finishing over the palate. There’s a more overt concentration – better said, intensity – to this wine vs the previous one. Long, lip-smacking, very tasty wine – that’s excellent.
