Thibaud on 2021:
I’m happy – it’s the first year that I’ve plenty of wine! We’re converting to organic and we didn’t have too many weeds, and the maladies were really not too bad – and that was with only 8 treatments. I planned to start the harvest on 20 Sept – but the grapes were not aromatic, so started another week later on the 27th – it was also 27th in 2020 but August! We had plenty of rain on the 26th and our last day was 2nd of October – I’m very satisfied. So far the wines are delicate and aromatic.

Thibaud on 2020:
very warm and very dry. I finished harvesting on 6 September. It’s ripe but I’m happy with the style – I was one of the first in the vines as I didn’t want 14° wines. All the wines were bottled in September

The wines…

A great result – particularly for the long-elevage 2019s – they are worth a special sear – though also your patience!

Between 2019 and 2020 they installed thermo-regulation here. All bottled in Sept 2021:

2020 St.Amour
Still a contract here – from a La Folie – they will have their own St.Amour this year but from a different lieu-dit
A red freshness of aroma. Supple, round, a modest grain of tannin but here is generous red fruit and shows plenty of middle intensity too. Red fruit again in the finish – clean and wide. That’s very good with a modestly structural side – wait 6 months!

2020 Fleurie Charbonnière
A small valley below the Madone. Took all the vines out to replant after this harvest – so it will be a while before you see the name again here…
A little smaller nose but framed with a faint, creamy oak. Supple, sensuous, mobile wine – concentrated too. Always fresh – no real fat here. Nicely energetic finishing – structural again but with more sophistication – lovely.

2020 Morgon Les Charmes
Near St.Joseph, bought already with AB certification
Airy top notes with purity and clarity of red fruit. Pure, direct, almost juicy red fruit with a frame of tannic dryness – but never excessive – still, wait 6-12 months before starting your journey with this wine. It’s excellent…

2020 Chénas
Very steep, very old vines – a lot of work with a hand-plough and other manual labour – ‘it’s s beach, just sand – and some weeds of course!’
Ooh – that’s a lovely aromatic – open, attractive, modestly floral too – no pyrazines like in 2019. Wide, melting over the palate – staying wide and mouth-watering. Long and satisfying. More serious – almost a little contemplative finishing. That’s also excellent!

2020 Juliénas Vielles-Vignes
Airy, a very fine and red-fruited nose. Extra incisive, cool fruit – open, more mineral and intense. Open and structural – ooh, that’s a great wine – but I’d wait 2 years before approaching again!

The following wines will have 2 years of elevage, so are 2019s. they are three wines with an undoubted austerity today – so I would respect that and wait up to three years before returning – I think them all great though!:

2019 Juliénas Le 4 Cerisiers
Half barrel and half tank elevage with some destemming for one part, not the other then assembled. The second year of elevage was all in tank for this wine.
A little narrower nose but much deeper. Silky, cool fruit growing in concentration and, in tandem, a little tannin is showing – it’s now more velour in style. More direct, a hint of austerity from the cool fruit – but this is really a top wine.- Bravo!
2019 Juliénas Vayolette
Northern slopes, deep soil – there’s some clay that runs through here too. As the last wine – the first year of elevage in 500-litre barrels, the second year all tank.
Fuller, broad almost a little smoky style to this wine. Again a cool and fluid style to the flavours – structural, instructing patience. Great wine – wait 2-3 years – so fresh finishing!
2019 Julienas Beauvernay
South-facing hillside vines, the younger vines in here were destemmed. A mix of larger wood containers before racking into smaller (old) barrels.
A broader red fruit nose – some slightly reductive depth too – but beautiful fruit. A different shape – a little rounder, still cool-fruit in style and more overt juiciness – still, like the others framed with slightly dry but almost grainless tannin. Last year, in elevage, I wasn’t sure this was as great as the others – this year I am!

And to finish:

2020 Beaujolais Villages Blanc
Vines in Emeringes plus a small amount from another place. The last year of this contract – there will be a very low volume domaine wine – from it’s first harvest in 2021.
Broad, a little waxy, honied and mineral. Supple, melting with mineral flavour but not any overt rigour here – this is a good wine.
