Nathalie on 2020:
The fermentations are done – and before Christmas too. I had some worry because the harvest would be in August but in the end the balance is super – perhaps because the nights were cool. Very happy.

Nathalie on 2019:
45 hl/ha is our average harvest but still it’s a bit down in quantity. Sunny but less ‘round’ than 2018, richer though because of the lower yields. In 2019 the degrees are a bit higher – more than in 2018 – we have 13-13.6° though just one at the latter… The markets are all over the place – June to August we have never been so busy but that only balances the slower months – so extra-complicated in the last 12 months but the sales are not too bad.

The wines…

Great villages wines in 2019, the 1ers also excellent…

All natural cork – from a real ‘family domaine’ from Spain:

2019 Chablis
Normally about 12 parcels are assembled here, and this cuvée would represent about 65% of the domaine’s production.
A certain classic green colour to the wine. There’s a nice zesty freshness to this nose. Mouth-filling with plenty of energy. Lots of energy in the finish – intense too – such a baby but it will be a great villages.
2019 Chablis Les Serres
This to be bottled in August – so still plenty of elevage ahead
A beautiful nose of width and silky intensity. Yes! So intense, mouth-filling, very open – slowly melting with fresh flavour. Super definition, great finishing – a really great wine – eventually when it’s bottled.

The following are bottled:

2019 Chablis 1er Vaugiraut
Two parcels; one of 65 years, a third in volume, and the other part, 35 years old. This bottled the last day before holidays – the 23rd December.
A more floral, less energetic nose. Extra width, a little extra richness of silky texture, more layered with waves of finishing flavour. That’s an excellent wine – lingering really well

2019 Chablis 1er Vaucoupins
1949 planted. A third of the vines of the domaine are massale with and with an average of 50 years of age.
A little more zip of citrus in the width of this nose. Supple, also a richness of texture and concentration, like the last but more mobile, slightly more mineral and certainly more, marginally more, energy. Lovely finish. Excellent wine again.
