The wines…

Great to good wines – the whites seemed to have the edge on this day…

2020 Bourgogne Aligoté
Granitic soil, long, low temp fermentation – bottled in July.
That’s a nice freshness and purity – not a big nose but an engaging one. Super in the mouth – lots of energetic volume and a purity of citrus fruit. Long, narrow, delicious finishing. Super – great Aligoté

2019 Macon-Bray Le Mouton Blanc
That’s another fine nose of attractive width though it can’t match the purity of the Aligoté. Rounder but still energetic, almost sizzling over the tongue. This needs plenty of time to show its best but it’s already very good.

Les reds:

2020 Macon-Bray Descenete Dangereuse (Rouge)
Gamay, all destemmed, infusion style vinification, elevage in older barrels, bottled in the summer, no added sulfur – also not at bottling.
A big, deep nose of dark modestly smoky fruit. Really large-scaled in the mouth – the finish nicely perfumed. That’s more than very good!

2020 Bourgogne Pinot Noir Terres Chazeaux
Same terroir as the first white. All destemmed, half tank, half barrel elevage.
A deeper nose, slowly showing some extra dimension though it started a little dumb after the gamay. Mouth-filling again – extra fine texture vs the gamay. The finish is not lacking in length but is smaller in size than the last. Good wine
