Eleni on 2019:
With 2019 we’re very happy. We have less volume than 2018 – of-course – but lovely wines. We harvested to keep the acidity and freshness. The lower volume wasn’t really because of the frost, probably the heat of the year. But the fermentations, whilst long, were all the way through without a hitch.

Eleni on 2018:
Of-course we had some wine this year. Almost nobody remembers such quantity but also combined with quality – the grapes were beautiful – there was almost nothing to triage. We started harvesting early, but still with grapes of 12-12.5°. I like the balance, and the fermentations have gone well – they are always long here so there’s no change there. It’s the first vintage since we began the domaine with a proper rendement – in fact we were completely full! After 2016 and 2017 the space problem we had in 2018 – that was a good problem to have. We also had enough grapes to make a small late harvest wine – picked in November – Le Barbe de Papa!

The wines…

As each year a compact selection of completely delicious wine – fine freshness and no overt richness on any of these. Super!

Nothing is in bottle yet – perhaps another 2 months – so all tasted from tank.

2018 Chablis En Boucheron
This is the parcel that has previously been sold at harvest time – retained now in 2017 and 2018
A little oak on the nose. Mouth-filling, lovely width of flavour, agrume plus the sweetness of oak today. Lovely length. Oaky but lovely. Wait 18-24 months if you are oak averse.

2018 Chablis Les Pargues
The oak is almost gone here – it’s a lovely nose. More mouth-filling, with a little zestiness that brings character. Much fainter-oaked. Long, delicious – bravo – a super rippling finish over the palate.

2018 Chablis Bas de Chapelots
80% lost to frost in 2017!
A lovely floral note above a faintly oaked base. A little more vibrant, with more citrus skin again, long and delicious wine – simply excellent.

2018 Chablis 1er Butteaux
A massalle selection that are 60 years old.
Again an overlay of florals – thats a lovely nose – just so inviting. More drive and energy, a little phenolic texture then vibrant finishing – ooh – iI love. That’s a great wine.
