It’s now brother and sister, Vivien & Lisa who are responsible at the domaine – Vivien has vinified since 2018.
Vivien on 2023 & 2022:
“2023 was almost too much – but it’s today’s nature – to much or too little. The quality in terms of white – I’m looking for acidity and tension – you can get the latter through elevage but the grapes could have had a bit more acidity for me – we chose our grapes with 4 passes in the vines! It will be a vigneron’s year. Compared to 2022, I love the pH and volume combination in 22 – it’s what I look for – you just had to be careful with the last of the press juice as there’s less acidity.”
The wines…
A super selection from 2022 here – a couple of wines that will probably be great and another that already is – worth a special search !!
All the following were bottled this week:
2022 Mâcon-Vergisson Sur la Roche
380 metres altitude.
A small but still quite open and clean nose. Presence in the mouth – growing in juicy intensity. Saline finishing – It’s a beauty!
East-facing and sunny with a large proportion of ‘active’ limestone – lower in altitude. Some of this with elevage in a concrete ‘egg.’
A little more open, a hint of lower sulfur impression. More scale and silkier too – really a great finish, the flavour leaching from every corner of my mouth. A great finish again – a more complete wine – bravo!
2022 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Tilliers
Here, this was called Vigne Blanche before but this is the real lieu-dit – The assembly of two parcels fined in tank – that’s all
More breadth to this aroma – Scale again but here with much extra concentration behind it. It’s impressive but really a wine for keeping back which I’d be waiting at least 5 years for…
More aromatic volume again. Hmm. This also has tons of material but today this melts easily over the palate – so has more fluidity – it’s concentrated but I could already drink a bottle of this. Superbly constructed – potentially a great wine.
Was ‘Clos’ here but they are not allowed that on a 1er cru label, so…. White limestone, plain south-facing. There’s 5% wine-globe elevage here…
Not so large scaled but super – and also quite fluid in aromatic style. Really class – fluid, mineral – extra in all directions – that’s undoubtedly grand vin!
