Always a fine range from this producer simply excellent 2022s…
Sébastien is testing some DIAM with the 2018 and 2019 vintages, and he’s not yet convinced. He might also try the new version of Nomarcorc:
2022 Mâcon-Fuissé Vers Chânes
Two parcels, west and a little north-facing. High vines with a mix of clay and limestone here – only with tank elevage. This bottled those that follow are tank samples.
Hmm – saline, complex and appealing – a lovely nose. Mouth-filling, a hint of strictness to the structure – but that’s good. Mineral but encased in sweet, mouth-watering, flavour – delicious.
2022 Pouilly-Fuissé
The assembly cuvée of the domaine – more clays soils for these. Possibly for bottling in July.
Hmm – not so wide but there’s a welcoming high-toned citrus freshness. Incisive – broad – ooh, this has minerality coming strongly to the fore – fresh – wonderfully shaped wine – far from ready but potentially really super – really complex finishing too!!
2022 Pouilly-Fuissé La Raidillons
Also a cuvée of assembly – 3 different parcels – mainly on the hill – partly behind the church of Fuissé. Half tank half barrel here – the soil has more limestone for this one.
More aromatic width and I don’t see the barrel, just fresh and inviting citrus complexity. Hmm – the minerality direct to the fore here – more fluid and mobile – growing with cushioned intensity. Hmm – that’s a really engaging depth of finishing flavour – so delicious!
2022 Pouilly-Fuissé Vieilles-Vignes
Vines from 1942. A single parcel of south-facing vines but on altitude – Les Belouses – a sunny, warm, area. 12 months in barrel then 12 in tank.
Slightly floral – not the widest – but with a good focus. Hmm – more direct, really mouth-watering. Complex for sure and finishing with impressive breadth. Simply super – no oak visible today either!
2022 Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Les Vignes Blanches
70-year-old vines – just 0.22 ha – elevage similar to the last.
A more airy complexity – but what an inviting aroma! Mouth-filling – growing in volume even more – there’s density to this fresh flavour too. Ooh – for keeping a while but this is just so impressive – simply excellent wine that detonates in the finish!
