Margaux on the recent vintages:
“2023 – no, not a good vintage for us – we were hailed – we lost 60%!
“But 2022 was good! Hot but less hot than in 2020. The volume was also quite good so we were very happy – and they are all now bottled.”

2022 Bourgogne Aligoté
On granite
That’s a small but pretty nose. Easy over the palate, quite generous and complex for aligoté. The finish is delicate and pure and delicious – yum!
Mainly red soils, not so deep. Very little sulfur used during elevage, leaving the wine on the CO2
Hmm – narrow but with a fine clarity of ripe slightly green citrus. Much more open, clean and chiselled than the aligoté – that’s a great wine! Bravo!
Extra aromatic breadth though a bit less focus. More bubbly perhaps more tension too – more aromatically floral in the finishing flavours – this is still a step up – well done!
Les Reds:
2022 Mâcon-Bray Le Mouton Noir
Gamay of course!
Quite a subtler nose – clean and showing just hints of interest. In the mouth it’s direct, cool and quite understated, a mineral rather than a fruit-driven gamay. Completely delicious
2022 Bourgogne Pinot Noir Agruis
Only a little more open aroma but with super clarity – that’s a lovely nose! Cool, fuller, less sweet but with a hint more depth and volume – actually in many respects I prefer the gamay today – but this has the most comfortable and delicious finish of the two.
