In 2021 they could make made only 10,000 bottles instead of 40,000. These 2022s are not yet bottled – they are waiting for a few more weeks. To make up for some of the lost 2021 volume they have been selling 14, 16 and 20-21 as a mixed case, including a variety from the Savoie made in 2019.
The wines…
As Denis wasn’t available, a fellow vigneron brought along his tank samples. Here were some super wines:
2022 Mâcon-Villages
Narrow but with airy top notes – some green citrus in this. Hmm, direct and then wider and wider over the palate. Lots of depth to this – with a slight reduction – hmm, the finish is delicious!
2022 St.Véran
Larger, with more aromatic impact. That’s more open and fresh, growing more mouth-watering and faintly sweet – you can see the minerality in this delicious wine. I love this open, mouth-watering, finish – simply excellent wine – class!
A more complex mix of citrus here – another with a little lime in the mix. Super width – there’s volume too – and such a juicy intensity of finishing citrus – I love it – Top!
2022 Pouilly-Fuissé
More composed, very classy aromatics – more yellow citrus in style. Hmm – like the nose, here is more yellow-citrus complexity and a fuller shape – that’s a beautiful wine, modestly mineral. I slightly favour the extra character of the Viré today but this is a beauty too, subtly chalky in the finish.
