Solange on 2023:
We harvested clean grapes and could refill the cellars, so that was a good start. We are not sure about the quality today but we will see!

Solange on 2022:
2022 was another warmer year but easy for treatments – we stopped ploughing early so the vineyards didn’t dry out too much – but we were happy with the volume – 55 hl/ha. So 2022 was easier particularly in organic viticultue but with less volume than in 2023 – but volume is not our first priority. We liked the grapes. The acidities were less than we prefer and the alcohol higher but looking at the wines, I think that we are really happy!

The wines…

Alway a compact and beautifully formed range from the family here – some great wines to search out too.

2022 Chablis
Not far off 13 degrees for this.
A high toned nose, some chiselled style to this. Cool, clean, cold fruit and absolute deliciousness. Vibrant and delicious – bravo.

2022 Chablis 1er Cote de Léchets
Extra breadth and there’s a subtle wood on the nose. More fluid flavour here and a certain extre depth to the concentration but the fluidity amply balances that. This barrel has marked the wine a little but I’m sure the assembly less so. The wine is absolutely delicious, probably best to wait two years though – simply excellent! Really wide and persistent!

2022 Chablis 1er Les Beauroy
‘Similar terroir to Côte de Léchets, but a bit more argilles-blanches. Otherwise, it’s the same exposure, 400-metres as the crow flies.’
Freshness, accented with faint perfume. Yes – vivid clarity blended with energy, and so wide in the finish – there’s tension here too – a great Beauroy a chiselled wine!

2022 Chablis 1er Montmains
‘Actually, it’s Forêts but I didn’t want confusion with the similar label of Vincent Dauvissat,’ says Laurent. Adeline says ‘Grandfather René planted these vines near the Forêts of Vincent Dauvissat, in a place where there’s more soil and fewer stones’
Also a nose of energy, here with extra width. A little extra fat to this concentration, with layers of fruit and an incisive leading edge. A great finish too – a completely excellent wine – but today im a Beauroy boy!
