Marjorie on 2023:
2023 was very good – the wines are ‘work progress’ but I think we have good quality to go with a good quantity – it depends on the tank as not all have finished fermenting but I’m not pressed, I can wait It’s natural like that.

Marjorie on 2022:
I’m also happy! It’s a big difference compared to 2021: We have more fruit and it was a much easier vintage – all went okay with a bit of warming in the cellar – my amphora cuvée I gave a few more months in that container in 2022. All is bottled now. Our market is developing – more international, more in France – my daughter arrives this year to help too – we have more to sell now – still 80% is sold in bulk at harvest but we have improved a lot!

The wines…

Just a lovely range of 2022s.

All synthetic cork amalgam seals:

2022 Chablis
Hmm, a little orange citrus fruit in this aroma – that’s nice. Supple, round but delicious and with plenty of energy – a nice line of finishing mineral flavour – and quite long – simply a lovely wine.

2022 Chablis Vieilles-Vignes
Versus 30 years of the last these vines are about sixty years old – a single parcel planted in the 1960s.
A much more open, wider, expressive nose – lovely claity of attractive citrus – yes! Also with a little generosity, fine texture and width a slightly there’s more concentration and slowly growing intensity in the finish – a stony agrume finish – lovely again – so good!

Now the three V’s of Chichée with 3 different elevages – tank, half amphora and the Vosgros with half barrel – 228-l:

2022 Chablis 1er Vaucoupin
Tank elevage like the previous two – the 2022 premiers with about 15 months of elevage so not long in bottle… 35 year old vines
Not so deep aromas but a lovely higher tone and floral complexity. Direct, cool, fluid wine – slightly soft focus but charming wine. A very pretty line of finishing flavour to – sooo good, and sneakily long too!

2022 Chablis 1er Vaugirot
More powerful, wide, stony and mineral. Cool, extra mineral, a reductive style without being too overt I’d still carafe this I think – today. The finish is super – panoramic and precise. Another super choice!

2022 Chablis 1er Vosgros
3-year-old barrels for 12 months – assembling with a tiny part done in tank, just before bottling.
A broad nose – the high tones with plenty of oak spice. Cool, round, clean, a wine of precision and silkiness. This finish is long and sweet – though this oak will take a couple of years to fade – but this is a very moreish wine, once you start…
