Carine on the recent vintages:
“In 2022 we started harvesting in August – that’s rare… For us, it’s a vintage with a normal volume. It certainly wasn’t like the volume that we saw in 2018, that’s for sure, but we still had a bit of VCI. All the wines are now bottled – and most are already sold! For us in the vines 2022 was an easy year – it was more complicated in 2023 as we had a lot more rain – we had to wait for the sunshine. The finished 2022s are delicious – even young – very fruity despite harvesting earlier, long finishing too – so we are very happy.”

Classy wines – and really too inexpensive if you buy from the domaine – ‘but we have so many old clients that we can’t raise the prices!’

2022 Petit Chablis
Vines for this principally Lignorelles and some Villy – from the grandmother.
Hmm – a nice line of ripe citrus with plenty of fresh energy to carry it. Hmm, I like this – as broad and concentrated as many Chablis – impressively concentrated in the finish even a little creaminess in the finish – ‘The only wood here goes in the chimney!’ Bravo PC – give it another year+ to open out more – it’s great to see how in 1 year this wine has evolved from being just a tasty chardonnay to a great PC !!
2022 Chablis
Rounder and more floral aromas. Supple but with a bubbling energy – that’s just too delicious! Could it be a bit more Chablis – it probably will be in 2 more years – if you can keep your hands off the bottles. Love it! Generous but too delicious!
2022 Chablis 1er Fourchaume – Homme Mort
From the part nearest Maligny and Opposite the pump for the aspersion.
A nice higher tone – less forward and cushioned than the Chablis – but there’s still an element of that. Tatsdy – broad, delicious wine – there’s more structure at the base and extra clarity of flavour – long flavour – oh that’s good! I love this too – and even bought some!
