Vincent on 2023:
“I can be happy – we filled our tanks – it was a good harvest – quite long a long harvest as we had some mechanical problems. 15 days for roughly the same quantity that we harvested in 7 days in 2022. The maturity was good the acids were a little low so I used a bit of acid – it was easy to rectify – I think it will be a nice vintage.”
Vincent on 2022:
“They are selling really well – we had to bottle some quite early as the 21s were gone. Much is already sold but we are content – you are too late for the Petit Chablis it’s now all gone – but we have all the others. So I’m really happy with the vintage, and not just because of the volume, there’s quality in the wines too – time in the bottle is showing some nice things – I like it.”
The wines…
More interesting wines this year – all are good.
All ‘natural’ cork here – “I find more quality here – I test the synthetic alternatives – but so far I prefer cork:”
2022 Bourgogne Aligoté
Vines in Chitry – 1.20 hectares – there was no malo for this one.
Fresh, sweetly attractive nose. In the mouth, this is mineral and juicy. This finishes well too – it’s an easy but also a tasty wine!
2022 Bourgogne Chitry
More aromatic volume, some greener citrus, and it’s quite floral too. In the mouth, we have volume and a more serious greener citrus fruit. It’s a longer finish than I expected – slightly sweet – but this is a good wine.
2022 Chablis
This the third bottling – from October
A sweetness of ripe citrus – more yellow-gold than the green of the last. Larger scale in the mouth – mineral in style – wide and mineral. Good wine also…
2022 Chablis 1er Mont-Mains
Over 3 hectares in Butteaux
Extra aromatic width – and it’s much finer too. In the mouth more fluid and cool, a faint grain of tannin to the texture. Beautifully finishing – hmm – that’s a lovely wine, fine finishing.
2022 Chablis 1er Côte de Jouen
This is not yet commercial – they are still selling 2020. This with young vines – planted 2015 – 0.25 ha.
A narrower, more direct line of aroma – clean and mineral. More generous, supple, and texturally accented with tannin. But broad and long finishing – a little sweet in the finish but it’s a good wine.
2022 Chablis 1er Côte de Cussy
In Beauregard in Courgis
A deep nose – round at the base. Mouth-filling, a decent clarity to these flavours – again a hint of green citrus in this mix, also slightly sweet in the finish but it’s a generous and delicious finish, slightly mineral. I like this!
