Didier on 2022 & 2021:
“I’m very happy with 22 – you can’t be satisfied with anything, if not with this vintage – about 48-55 hl/ha, it’s a good one. 2021 wasn’t like that – I had just 25% of my normal volume of Chablis – only my Vosgros had a normal volume – the Vaucoupins, I’ve only bottled it in magnums as I made just 9 hl/ha. There was a lot of severe triage – for porriture and maturity – only to keep the best. There’s a last bottling of Chablis to do next week – the one we will taste was done in November – there rest have been in bottle for 3 weeks.”
The wines…
A clean sweep of great wines tasted at this domaine – first class – bravo!
All the wines are sealed with cork:
Hmm – a nice vibration of minerality. Wide, supply but fluid and with clarity – a finish that expands over the palate – I found the 2020 here a little green, but this is a downright great villages.
From vines of 60 years old from 3 parcels – represents almost 1 hectare, more right bank. Plus 6 hl of Vidécorse – ‘there was almost nothing’ – blended into this.
Less wide, more depth – a little creamy barrel. Massive scale for a villages – less tightly defined to start but with volume and energy that’s next level – today I prefer the first but in 2 years, this will be next level…
This from a mid-February bottling.
A wine with such deep and attractive aromas – almost roots. Incisive, cooler more structure and more minerals – an extra detonation of finishing flavour simply great finishing – again!
Also bottled mid-Feb
A small reduction – ‘always in Vosgros’ – a clarity of minerals below. Chiselled – that word was invented for this wine – such energy fine complexity but essentially chiselled rock – great wine!
