2017 Mugneret Gerard Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots

By billn on March 28, 2019

In bottle since January. A faint reduction on this nose. Hmm, layered and concentrated, more-so than some Echézeaux this vintage. Full, finishing with complexity and not too much overt oak structure or flavour. Lovely. A great finish, some oak showing only right at the end.

2017 Magnien Frederic Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes

Hmm, here’s a nice width of slightly saline aroma. Supple, nicely layered, depth of fine flavour, an accent of fine tannin. Wide and delicious! A great result!

2017 Joannet Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots

Already bottled. Light coloured, but ooh, that’s a nice nose – open, easy – but a fine invitation. This has a punch that the colour doesn’t suggest. Full, complex, and there’s energy too – saline accented in the finish. Ooh really a super wine – bravo! Holding long in the finish too!

2017 Felettig Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes

Hhm, this has a nicely vibrant nose – hyper attractive. Full, concentrated, but with lots of complexity. Density of finishing flavour too. Bravo – really top Charmes in 2017.

2017 Barthod Ghislaine Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes

Slightly diffuse aromatics but with a very pretty red fruit that’s holding things together. Ooh, there are grand crus with less drive and concentration in 2017 – what a beauty! Bravo!

2017 Amiot-Servelle Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes

Modest weight of aroma, but it seems silky and red. Round, good weight, fine complexity. A short note, but only because the wine is rather discrete today – there’s nothing out of place though.

2017 de la Poulette Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots

By billn on March 28, 2019

Hmm, quite a floral perfume. Plenty of structure but plenty of energy and flavour too – a wine to wait for – more than many in 2017. Hmm, super length. Long and tasty. Excellent wine despite a modest rusticity – call it character!

2017 René Cacheux Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots

By billn on March 28, 2019

High and low tones for this nose, a little oak, but a lot of complexity too. Ooh there’s a lot of wine here – concentrated, full, delicious – ooh – a great Suchots even with that finishing mocha note, bravo!

2017 Michel Noëllat Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots

By billn on March 28, 2019

Bottled 14 days. Very slowly opening in the glass, not so oaked, supple, open, lovely layers, this is very delicious today, slightly decadent and very easy to appreciate.
