Elsie Moore is the new face at the domaine, having taken on the rôle from Caroline Gon.

Elsie on 2022:
“Very happy with this year – 45 hl/ha and exactly twice as much as last year! We think the quality will be very good. We can set that against 30% of a normal harvest volume in 2021. We saw hail, frost and a lot of water – it was a very complicated year! But the wines are much better than we could have hoped for.”

A very strong range of delicious wines here in 2021 – the Pouilly-Fuissé seems to be the most complete of all and is worth a special search!

All these 2021s are bottled – the Pouilly-Fuissé was the last to be done, just two weeks ago. As usual, the wines here are all sealed with DIAM.

2021 Mâcon-Prissé
On the other side of the road from the SV appellation.
A fresh, saline but still a little compact nose. Hmm, now that’s lovely; faintly reductive with lots of agrume – a few mm of cushion to this – nicely generous but still with tension. Such a lovely combination – and clean finishing too – it just needs the nose to perk up a little – otherwise it’s absolutely excellent.

2021 Mâcon-Bussières
No Monsard this year as they combined three parcels.
This nose is more open than the Prissé – showing extra clarity too – still with a faint reduction. Mouth-filling, quite fluid and melting in presentation. Lovely!

2021 Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine
Higher altitude vines here, always later harvested.
An extra punch of freshness and a silky fruit. Structurally larger, yet soft edged – never hard – growing in mouth-watering deliciousness and intensity. I love this wine!

2021 Viré-Clessé
From Viré – from Chateau Viré since 2009. Older vines and plenty of clay here. Try to harvest earlier here. Normally, 10-12 different parcels.
Very perfumed – despite not being such a large nose. A faint gas – holding a beautiful, quite mineral, core of flavour but still infused with tons of citrus elements – in this case, more yellow citrus and slightly creamy. An absorbing wine – more to contermplate – if less overt energy after the Lamartine. Excellent again!
