Bruno on 2021 & 2020:
In 2021 we had some frost in the mid-slope – frost that we almost never see. We know that when it’s frosted here there’s not much wine in the whole of France! Fortunately, in 2020, we had a good volume – we made our plan!

The wines…

A domaine I should remember to visit more often – the quality here is always very high!

2020 Beaujolais Villages Blanc Les Plasses
A mix of tank and barrel elevage – from 20-year-old vines.
A nose of cushioned roundness – attractive too. Incisive flavour – faint barrel, mouth-watering, no rigour but with some base of minerality…

2020 Beaujolais Villages Blanc
Also a mix of elevage types.
A narrower but deeper nose. More overtly mineral, more perfumed – a suggestion of tannin framing the fine flavour – I note the oak a little in the finishing flavours but only here – that’s another super 2020 white!

Les Reds
All the wines are bottled except for a last portion of their ‘classic Le Perreon:’

2020 Beaujolais Villages La Vinif à Papa
A new wine for the range. No added sulfur during elevage and only 10mg for the bottling.
Extra freshness, perhaps a faint pyrazine note. Wide, fresh, this is a nice wine over the palate – a faint green component but additive to the complexity at this level. That’s a nice wine…

2020 Beaujolais-Le Perreon
A deeper nose that needs a bit more air. Good presence, really a super-silky texture. Mobile, cool-fruit, This finishing in super fashion – slowly fading, very slowly fading. That’s an excellent wine.

2020 Beaujolais-Le Perreon Madone Bio
AB on the label.
Higher toned – a perfumed nose. Open, cool-fruit a wine of fine fluidity – supple, mobile, faint salt and pepper – a late-arriving dryness from the wine’s tannin but with zero grain. That’s a super wine – give it 12 months-plus but That’s a more than excellent BJV…
