As Quentin puts it “Prunelle has 4 young kids – 1-5-years-old – so couldn’t be available this afternoon – but here are her wines”
Prunelle is one of Quentin’s sisters and her husband works in biodynamic domaine supplies – which must help!
Prunelle’s domaine began with a single cuvée from just over one hectare, in Régnié Les Vergers, in 2017 and 2018 and jumped to two cuvées for both 2019 and 2020. “Prunelle does the most work possible in the vines sharing some of the equipment with me,” says Quentin. 90% of the production from her three hectares is exported. The first vintages with some bulk sales but now all is bottled, work with organic certification underway. As you will note when you see the bottles, they have a different form – resembling a little those from the Jura.
The wines…
More than good – rare wines but worth looking out for…
2020 Régnié
This bottled only in the last weeks.
The nose needs some coaxing from the glass but here is a lovely and quite forward perfume. Supple, nicely concentrated, almost layered – that slightly savoury ‘low sulfur’ approach. I find plenty of extra sweetness in the finishing flavours – but the last thoughts are minerality and a modest but attractive floral perfume – carafe – it’s certainly very good!
2020 Beaujolais-Lantignié
A nose that’s finer and also nicely floral-perfumed. Finer texture too. Mobile, interesting, nicely flavoured – really excellent wine, super finishing – a definite notch higher than the previous wine! Lovely…
