Round-up of wines tasted
No slurping or spitting! This is a compendium of wines that were drunk with food, friends and family, between August 2008 and the end of November 2008. A mere 52 bottles are listed here, but don’t forget that another 113 from this Autumn Report lie here – it… Read More
Tasting 112×2006 in bottle
112 wines from the 2006 vintage tasted over 8 days, plus one interloping 2005 – 80% were poured by their makers. Clearly for the vast majority of these I did not drink the whole bottle, otherwise the powers that be would have already rejected the need for a pointless… Read More
arlaud vendanges – the reprise!
'Mark de Morey' was eventually found - not at the bottom of the destemmer, rather with a full inbox in his Blackberry - de rigeur for pickers this year you know! Trying to fix both that and his cherished camera slowed him down a little, but unbowed, here's the continuation of his story...

Domaine Arlaud Diary
Monday 29th Sept
My notes, now, several days later, tell me we did Morey Les Blanchards premier cru this morning and afternoon we did Morey Les Milandes premier cru although has been suggested we did the latter yesterday – your writer now confused.com !! By checking the Morey map in Coates latest tome am sure doing ‘Blanchards’ morning was correct – supported by one or two photos taken, including a couple of my fellow vendangeurs (male) pisse dans les vignes ! Recall the grapes looked very healthy indeed - large pendulous, clean looking, bunches from Milandes. Read More

Morey Saint Denis: Village Profile
Once upon a time, nearly 1,000 years ago… a terrible famine struck the area and people of Morey. They were already wine-makers, but had little to feed themselves – no cows, just a few chickens. At that time the forest of Cîteaux was close by and, on the other side… Read More
Round-up of wines tasted
No slurping or spitting! Normally this is a compendium of wines that, in the main, are really drunk with food, friends and family, but I would say about two thirds of this issue’s are from tastings, all though between December 2007 and March 2008. A higher incidence of corked… Read More
Thomas-Moillard: 2008 Update
It’s not so long ago that I took the trip to Nuits St.Georges to visit Thomas-Moillard and was able to try some encouraging 2005’s. This time I was hoping to check on the progress that was indicated at my previous visit, ask questions of the team and look at… Read More
shrinking burgundy winestocks…
From the BIVB: “The stocks of wine held by Burgundy wine growers are dwindling, as can be seen from the records published by the customs and excise authorities of volumes remaining in the cellars at domaines at the end of the last campaign, in July 2007: 1.31 million hectolitres –… Read More
Profile: Maison Moillard (Nuits St.Georges)
——————————————————————————- UPDATED from June 23rd 2008: I discussed this with some of the family; there is (was) a complex holding of many, many family members, so a wide spread of shareholders. A large (majority) block chose to sell, and that block was not represented by those that currently… Read More
