2006 Long-Depaquit Chablis Vaudesir

By on March 31, 2008 #asides

The nose is stylisticly similar to the ‘Les Clos’, though perhaps a hint more savoury. The palate is a little fuller but not quite so muscled, the acidity currently prickles on the tongue. The finish is a match for the ‘Les Clos’.

2006 Bouchard Père et Fils Bourgogne Rouge Les Coteaux des Moines

By on March 31, 2008 #asides

Bottled at the end of October. Medium, medium-pale colour. There’s a soft but rather tight nose hiding in the glass. Fresh, with some bite to the tannin and fruit just below the surface. A nice mouth-watering finish. This needs food or a couple of years in the cellar.

2006 Gambal Alex Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Saucours

red aromatics with maybe a hint reduction at the base. There is a good mix of bright flavours blended with well managed tannin. Very nice wine.

2006 Boisset Jean-Claude Meursault Les Limozin

From under Les Genevrières. The nose is reasonably precise, though not quite the focus of the St.Aubin but is quite fine. Lovely, balanced and fresh. Concentrated with a lingering finish.

2006 Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune du Château

A mix of red berries and an additional darker aspect which seems to be from the oak. Ripeness, intensity, lovely acidity and a creaminess to the fruit that covers the slightly grainy tannin. There is some oak flavour but it’s not overdone. Lingers well on the tongue – as usual it’s an easy ‘buy’ recommendation.

2006 Potel Nicolas Nuits St.Georges Les Murgers

The nose is complex focused and elegant – super. Lithe, vibrant wine with a super finish. This is very, very good. Short note, sweet wine.

2006 Gambal Alex St.Aubin Murgers des Dents de Chien

By on March 31, 2008 #asides

One third of new oak used here. There’s a little more of a savoury edge to the nose on this. A hint of sweetness and some fat texture play against the acidity. Then there’s a nice burst of interest on the mid-palate and a lingering finish. Considering this has been in bottle on 3 or 4 days, this is rather good.

2006 Clos Frantin Clos de Vougeot

By on March 31, 2008 #asides

An impressive, layered nose with hints of coffee. Full-packed palate with plenty of structure. There’s more here, both dimension and structure. It’s certainly a little austere, but it’s not that tough and it is very, very impressive.

2006 Long-Depaquit Chablis La Moutonne

By on March 31, 2008 #asides

The nose is deeper, rounder and more forward. Full-packed and well textured without being too fat. The fruit could have a little more focus and width but with a long, very mineral finish.
