arlaud vendanges – the reprise!
'Mark de Morey' was eventually found - not at the bottom of the destemmer, rather with a full inbox in his Blackberry - de rigeur for pickers this year you know! Trying to fix both that and his cherished camera slowed him down a little, but unbowed, here's the continuation of his story...

Domaine Arlaud Diary
Monday 29th Sept
My notes, now, several days later, tell me we did Morey Les Blanchards premier cru this morning and afternoon we did Morey Les Milandes premier cru although has been suggested we did the latter yesterday – your writer now confused.com !! By checking the Morey map in Coates latest tome am sure doing ‘Blanchards’ morning was correct – supported by one or two photos taken, including a couple of my fellow vendangeurs (male) pisse dans les vignes ! Recall the grapes looked very healthy indeed - large pendulous, clean looking, bunches from Milandes. Read More
more silly prices and server problems
First, apologies for yet another hosting issue with the site – 60% down since Friday evening – it’s a big job to move hosts given the site complexity I seem to have arrived at, but I may have to bite the bullet. Anyway, at least I’m not charging you!… Read More
2005 Bouchard Père et Fils Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze
Medium, medium-plus colour. The nose is showing rather more dark oak and faint caramel over the darker-hued fruit. Softer and silkier in the mouth – clearly more oak. Round-up of wines tasted
No slurping or spitting! Normally this is a compendium of wines that, in the main, are really drunk with food, friends and family, but I would say about two thirds of this issue’s are from tastings, all though between December 2007 and March 2008. A higher incidence of corked… Read More
Gevrey-Chambertin: the 2005 grand crus
Vienna. It’s only when you look closely at the map that you realise how far east Vienna is; it’s only an hour and a bit on the plane from Zürich, but then that’s an hour east from Paris which is etc., etc.. Vienna also seems underrated as a tourist… Read More
bootcamps and travel
I start 8 days of travel today – Holland: mainly Dutch Siberia (Friesland) with a weekend in Amsterdam – if I’m in your environs (during the week) drop me a line at the usual place. I expect only a smattering of posts in that time. I don’t really… Read More
Roundup of Wines Tasted
No slurping or spitting! This is a compendium of wines that, in the main, were really drunk with food, friends and family between August and November 2007. There main exception in these pages are about 60 2005’s which were tasted at a large gathering in Zürich in November. Only… Read More
bouchard père 1999 chambertin
An interesting counterpoint to the Faiveley – one might expect the Chambertin to need more time than a Corton, but producer style counts for much. Also opened and then poured 1 hour later: 1999 Bouchard Père et Fils, Chambertin Medium-plus ruby-red. The nose… Read More
