Possibly the last vintage due to yields of 15hl/ha in 2009, practically a wine only one vintage in five. Nice red berry top-notes. A round wine of width, sweetness and a great taste – good intesity. Not very long but very satisfying.

2009 Chavy-Chouet Bourgogne Chardonnay Les Fremelottes
Just 20 metres from the Puligny villages appellation, from vines that almost wrap around the winery of Château du Puligny-Montrachet. An important cuvée for the domaine as there are almost 10,000 bottles. Fresh, clean aromas, eventually a little herb and more fruit. There is plenty of depth and just a little padding too. The acidity is the first impression but there’s no lack of balance eventually. Almost good.
2008 Giroud Camille Bourgogne Cuvée L
Stood up in the cellar for 4 days before opening – it wasn’t enough to make the wine shiny bright. Medium, medium-plus colour, The nose has a wild young-wine freshness and immediacy, given an hour or so there is a direct and perfect raspberry note. In the mouth this is wide, very complex, sweet and cushioned. The acidity has a a bit of a leading edge of sharpness (perhaps exacerbated by the suspended material?) but the padding largely covers it. Good length and very tasty right now, in fact in the right circumstances you might be forgiven for thinking it a much higher AOC. This bottle found many friends…
