2010 Mikulski François Bourgogne Rouge

By billn on January 16, 2012

From the same 1929 vineyard as the Passetoutgrain, but of-course just the pinot this time! Very, very pretty aromas that offer both depth and a precocious intensity. Likewise intensity of flavour and a hint of tannin grab too. I’d relish this young!

2010 Mikulski François Bourgogne Aligote

A strong core of fruit aroma. Likewise there’s a good centre of acidity here and a crystalline aspect to the fruit. This is an good wine with none of overly savoury aspects that Aligoté can sometimes deliver.

The nose has high tones and quite some depth – not so wide to start with though. Here the impression is of a fuller wine with an extra edge of sweetness. Lovely acidity which really, really pushes the fruit long. Lovely Bourgogne

2009 Ramonet Noel Bourgogne Pinot Noir

A plastic ‘Nomacork’. This has a fresh but forward nose of dark red cherries. The flavour is also quite forward and shows a sour cherry impression – certainly not sweet but refreshingly moreish. This has a very decent intensity and I absolutely love it.

2009 Mischief and Mayhem Bourgogne Chardonnay

Bottled in July 2010; a blend of St.Romain, Macon and grapes from the Puligny-Meursault border. The nose is fresh and shows nothing obvious of Macon. Mouth-filling, nice flavour and almost an impression of tannin in the mid-palate – serious dry extract here for such a label. The acidity is just about right. Good value here – just €11 ex-cellar.

2009 Mischief and Mayhem Bourgogne Pinot Noir

Bottled in July 2010, this wine is blend of grapes from Aloxe, Côte Chalonaise, Hautes Côtes de Nuits and Brochon. A bright and friendly red cherry nose jumps from the glass to greet you – it’s almost cordial. Uncommon weight and concentration for a Bourgogne, the ripe fruit is edged with a hint of tannin – all things you hardly find in a Bourgogne.

2010 Buisson-Charles Bourgogne Pinot Noir

Just a hint of reduction – but frankly nothing could take your attention from a double-dose of cassis on the nose. Quite full and round with a real base of tannin. The flavour has creamy accents – regardless of appellation, just a lovely wine.

2009 Buisson-Charles Bourgogne Pinot Noir

Very high-toned aromas and quite some intensity of fruit – Patrick used 100% whole clusters. Full, supple structure and a slowly lingering finish. Absolutely bravo! For a Bourgogne Pinot Noir!

2009 Jayer-Gilles Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits

By billn on November 06, 2011

High toned aromas and no obvious oak – very good width too – this is very nice. Very fine, quite narrow but mated to a fine acidity and intensity. I like the fruit very much and it has interesting, rather than heavy-handed, oak accents. Neither a super-ripe nor a fluffy textured 09, simply a stunning Bourgogne – excellent.
