2008 Taupenot-Merme Nuits St.Georges Les Pruliers

Medium-plus colour. Again the aromas are dominated by dark fruits. Powerful, ripe fruit flavours with plenty of velvet. Excellent mid-palate dimension before the tannin saturates your tongue – makes the flavour last very long.

2008 Dubreuil-Fontaine Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Vergelesses

Nice to fine a wine with a red-fruited nose in this vintage. In the mouth even if it’s not so deep there is good width and a lovely flavour in the mid-palate. Balanced and with a good finish.

Warm red fruit with some herbs. There’s a creamy width to the fruit before you move through plenty of velvet tannin. Beautiful complexity – stunning wine, just wait 6-12 months for the tannin to settle – I will!

Bright and precise dark berries on the nose. A little more impact and width on the palate after the Ille des Vergelesses, certainly more power, but not the deft complexity. Very good all the same!

The nose is open and welcoming, showing ripe fruit and hints of herbs. There’s plenty of tannin here, but good fat too. Very well balanced wine here.

2008 Boisset Jean-Claude St.Aubin En Remilly

Harvested quite late and just 2 weeks in bottle. High-toned aromas. Quite full-bodied, but it seems reasonably balanced. Very good intensity in the mid palate and also its fruit-led finish – bravo!

From a plot originally planted in 1901 – just 3 barrels. A little spice and herb complexity to the dark nose. The tannin is fine and just a little sticky. A dark, pure, intense and quite wiry personality before it heads into the long fresh finish. Always first class this wine…

An impressive depth of pure red fruit on the nose – a 2008 rarity! Like the Dominode there’s plenty of structure, but it’s balanced by precise dark red berry fruit. Long, very fine and pure.

A very pretty nose of soft, smooth red/black fruit. In the mouth there’s a width of very pretty fruit with decent mid-palate dimension. Long – lingering on perfect, mouth-watering acidity. Super.
