2009 Jouan Henri Chambolle-Musigny

By billn on July 10, 2011

From three parcels. The nose is hiding a little – very understated until it eventually widens a little. Nice intensity and a good matching acidity. It doesn’t shout Chambolle to me, but it is a pretty wine and offers excellent value.

2009 Jouan Henri Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Echézeaux

By billn on July 10, 2011

This has a lovely aromatic depth – it’s quite forward – very nice indeed. The texture is slightly cushioned but has a good acid balance. Depth of flavour and plenty of interest here. I have a preference for the 2008 I drank at home, but this is a good wine even before you see the price.

2009 Javillier Patrick Meursault Les Tillets

By billn on May 17, 2011

The aromas are higher toned; white fruit with a subtle sweetness below. Broad and mouth-watering with fine intensity – lovely, lovely stuff.

2009 Javillier Patrick Meursault Cuvée Tête de Murger

By billn on May 17, 2011

The nose offers more impact and density; a little gingerbread. Round in the mouth, with very good density. The intensity is still on the upward curve after you swallow – impressive and classic Meursault.

2009 Javillier Patrick Aloxe-Corton

By billn on May 17, 2011

This has a nice violet-flower aroma with a few hints of reduction below. There is width, some intensity and certainly more than one dimension of flavour – it lingers very well too. A fine villages.

2009 Ramonet Noel Chassagne-Montrachet

By billn on May 17, 2011

A good nose of classic Chassagne herbs over a ripe core of fruit. Also quite rich but this easily has more finesse than the bourgogne and a mid-palate density of flavour that grows and grows – lovely.

2009 Olivier Antoine et Rachel Santenay Les Temps de C(e)rises

By billn on May 17, 2011

From four different plots of vines made with about 20% new oak. This was planned as a one-off cuvée in the financial crisis as an easy drinking wine – but customer took to it very well, so… Medium colour. Clean, dark cherry on the nose – fine. Medium weight with a lovely clean intensity – very nice wine.

2009 Olivier Antoine et Rachel Santenay Les Charmes

By billn on May 17, 2011

Made with 50% whole clusters, from a single vineyard just under Clos Rousseau in the west of Santenay.Medium, medium-plus colour. The nose seems a red-cherry compote. Fuller with lots of interesting and intense flavour – lovely length too. A wine with a very well managed structure – excellent quality.
