2007 Chanson Père et Fils Pernand-Vergelesses

By billn on June 30, 2010

Blanc. Pale lemon colour. Fine, tight and pretty aromas. A faint hint of transient oak, a little fat and plenty of silk – very mineral with a subtle length, delivered on good acidity. This is very good.

2007 Chanson Père et Fils Meursault

By billn on June 30, 2010

Pale again. The fruit aroma has more impact and a more creamy impression. Not quite as fat as the Beaune and very good good texture. This is a smaller wine in all physical dimensions, that must be why it’s half the price of the Clos des Mouches!

2007 Chanson Père et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet

By billn on June 30, 2010

Medium-pale colour. More understated aromatic width than the Meursault. There is some Chassagne power but it remains quite a linear wine. Enough concentration? I’m not sure, perhaps it’s just the linear presentation but I’m missing a little intensity – so complaints about the finish though – above average for a villages.

2007 Billard Gabriel Pommard Les Vaumuriens

Nicely perfumed red fruit. In the mouth there’s a little more structure than fruit. Finishes okay with some astringency – not for drinking young!

2007 Roty Joseph Marsannay Les Ouzeloy

By billn on April 18, 2010

Also aromatically dark, but wstill wider than the last – really impressive. A wide-angle panorama of flavours, mouth-filling, this is very lovely. There’s plenty of structure but there’s balance too. A little spice and licorice as you head into the finish. High class Marsannay.

2007 Roty Philippe Marsannay Quartier

By billn on April 18, 2010

The aromas are as dark as the last wine, but here there is a hint more subtlety. More tannin, a little less width but the flavours are penetrating. This is super.

2007 Roty Philippe Marsannay Champs St.Etienne

By billn on April 18, 2010

Again a wide panorama of aromas, of not though is that this is has a more red-fruit character than the previous wines. Very silky in the mouth, though you finish with a hint of astringency. The fruit flavours are also a little ‘redder’. Not as ‘big’ as the Marsannay Quartier, but a little finer.
