Four barrels from the slopes of Brochon. A pretty and refined nose of red berries that are underpinned by another fainter dimension of fruit. Very stylish – like the Chambolles but with more tannin. Very nice dark flavours.

One of the rarer bottlings by JCBoisset winemaker Gregory Patriat – a single barrel, 295 bottles. Pale lemon yellow. A nose of creamy oak and bright pineapple fruit that slowly fades. Well textured and with perfect acidity. The flavours are ripe – not too much so – and tasty, but far from simple, I even imageine (perhaps) a little aniseed and coconut. Slowly fades. A super wine, and a fine buy.

This a villages lieu-dit that I’ve never seen explicitly on a label before. The vineyard is lower down the slope from Bonnes-Mares, and touches on the villages portion of Les Beaux Bruns. The nose is quite ‘big’, wide and interesting. The well-textured palate has a sneaky width and length. Clearly a structural step-up from the last wine with plenty more tannin – but it’s well-enough packaged. This is very nice.
