2009 Gambal Alex Bourgogne Pinot Noir Les Deux Papis

A few herba son the nose. This is a mouth-filling bourgogne with plenty of lingering flavour. There’s a little grainy tannin but overall very pretty.

2009 Boisset Jean-Claude Bourgogne Aligote

Bottled after 12 months and shows just a hint of oak on the nose to go with a whiff of clean fruit. Wide with quite nice energy and a lovely core of lingering flavour. Rather good considering it followed a 1er Cru Puligny!

Good colour. There’s a depth of dark fruit. In the mouth this is quite full with ripe fruit. Good but understated structure and slowly lingering flavour – a success!

2009 Jadot Louis Bourgogne Chardonnay

Medium, medium pale yellow. It’s an interesting nose that at first seems to have a lot of aniseed and then as you take the glass away from your nose the aniseed seems to split into yellow fruit and sulfur, eventually there’s a little baked bread too. In the mouth this starts round, up-front and full but decays very quickly into the mid-palate. What’s left is a little linear though with apparently decent length. To start with I didn’t think it completely to my taste – over about one hour either I or it moved position a little and it became reasonably palatable. Just in-case the problem was sulfur I left it ‘topless’ in the fridge overnight. Still pretty dull on day 2 I’m afraid. I can’t honestly say I’ll be searching for more, which is a shame as I really enjoyed a few vintages of this.

2009 Latour Henri Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune

A good core of fairly deep red fruit aromas – eventually a clear raspberry note. There is a mirrored core of red fruit on the palate too that is coupled to excellent acidity and just a hint of tannic background. Fresh and tasty.

2009 Moreau Bernard Bourgogne Chardonnay

From the commune of Chassagne. They are looking for something accessible – not too complicated. No new oak This is smooth and forward, very nice aromas. Quite full and fruity with a well-judged balance – it makes a good start to your Saturday morning!
