2007

2007 Long-Depaquit Chablis Vaillons

By billn on March 24, 2011

More evolved – bottle was changed. Fresher with a hint of seashore. Fuller. surprisingly the acidity is more understated yet the finish is bigger than 08.

2007 Perrière (Fixin) Fixin Clos de la Perrière

By billn on March 22, 2011

Understated, hints of warm spice dovetail fresh red fruit. Very silky in the mouth, intense flavour plus a late arriving acidity that leaves your mouth watering. Little here suggests the vintage.

2007 Long-Depaquit Chablis Vaucoupin

By billn on March 22, 2011

A hint of perfume. The flavours are more chalky and less precise. The mid-palate flavour is again just a little evolved. Very long finishing, but I’d say drink-up!

2007 Pavillon Pommard Les Rugiens

By billn on March 22, 2011

Actually harvested on the same date as the 03.There’s a little more aromatic density if not a more obvious ripeness than the 08, eventually some precise dark berries. This is concentrated and fresh, not obviously of the vintage. A real success.

2007 Comte Armand Pommard Clos des Epeneaux

By billn on March 21, 2011

The nose delivers a blast of red fruit, a little confiture and perhaps a sprig of mint too. Narrow and very mineral – just a very long line of flavour that runs right through the wine. This was picked late but there is no obvious dimension of ‘sweet’ to the wine – very fine for the vintage!

2007 Mommessin Beaune Sur Les Grèves

By billn on February 02, 2011

Medium, medium-plus colour. The nose is just a little bit better than pretty, there’s a high-toned fruit-pastille impression, but also a nice cherry core too – the last drops smell lovely – bravo! Ripe fruit that becomes fresher and more intense as you hold onto it. Decent acidity and the merest reference to tannin in the mid-palate. Good depth with most subtle touch of cream. The tiniest bit of fat pads out the texture. It’s not the most concentrated Beaune you will ever drink, but it is complex and a very well made 2007 indeed. I have to bite my lip and say – bravo (again!) – particularly as the price I paid was less than €20.

2007 Serveau Bernard Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses

By billn on January 26, 2011

There is more depth of aroma here which drowns the worst of the ever-present family nose. In the mouth this is a lovely, comforting wine showing super flavour. Overall a very nice wine.

2007 Bize Simon Savigny-lès-Beaune Aux Vergelesses

By billn on January 26, 2011

Pretty red aromas. Like the 2009 the flavours are very mineral, tannin starts as merely a background impression, though comes to the fore in the mid-palate, it seems only as part of a general crescendo of flavour leaching from every nook and cranny of your mouth. Excellent!

2007 de Courcel Pommard Grand Clos des Epenots

By billn on January 24, 2011

I love the slightly wild aromas, hints of stems and flowers – lovely. The mid-palate seems less concentrated than that of the 2006, but in this case it is the structure, rather than the flavour which seems to grow in the mouth.
