2008 Clos de Tart Clos de Tart

By billn on March 24, 2011

The nose is bright, clear and shows precise dark fruit – very impressive. There is plenty of slightly grainy tannin backed by very good acidity. It seems clearly a wine of Morey with it’s physique of well-defined muscle. Although long, the last part of the mid-palate and the finsh still betray a lot of oak flavour and texture. This will need the best part of 18 months to come into balance, otherwise very impressive wine of intensity and tension.

Lovely dark fruit – this is both pretty and complex. Plenty of slightly grainy tannin and lovely aspects to the fruit that combine with mineral elements too. Very interesting.

Again there’s a creamy edge to the aroma of red fruit. More extract here with finely grained tannin. The flavour builds a little in the mid-palate then holds a linear course into the finish. The flavour is a little stony in the finish.

2008 Long-Depaquit Chablis Vaudesir

An impression that this wine is colder (it’s not) – cold steel over the tongue. A broad and long finish of warm, white fleshy fruit. Super wine.

2008 Long-Depaquit Chablis La Moutonne

Higher-toned aromas with some fruit blossom. ‘Colder’ and fresher. Seemingly more intense than the 09 but with less texture. A nice growth of flavour in the mid-palate and a commanding finish – bravo!

2008 Long-Depaquit Chablis Le Clos

Also understated, the aromas are just a little finer – perhaps a little development though. Wide, with an energetic burst of flavour. A real bundle of energy this wine.

2008 Clos Frantin Echézeaux

By billn on March 22, 2011

Tighter aromas. This seems rounder than the 09 and has managed to almost completely bury its structure. The acidity draws out more and more flavour in the finish.

2008 Gallois Dominique Charmes-Chambertin

The nose is higher-toned with pretty red fruits – a lovely complexity too, slowly the aromas open and soften in the glass. There is some flexing of muscle in the mid-palate – very good intensity. This wine seems to expand in all kinds of directions. Long, with a hint of strawberry.

2008 Heresztyn Clos St.Denis

This is very tight to start with. Here the structure comes first, dominating the flavours – it’s a sullen performance; there’s lots of well-balanced material here but today there are only glimpses of fruit and flavour. The smell of last drops in the glass bode well for the future – lovely
