Roundup of Wines Tasted
No slurping or spitting! This is a compendium of wines that were drunk with food, friends and family, between December 2008 and the end of March 2009. Just over 60 bottles are listed here, but there are another 219 dotted through this Spring Report that it didn’t make sense… Read More

2004 à la coccinelle
I think I was possibly the first to publicly raise and discuss the ‘vintage character’ of 2004 reds – anecdotally whites are also affected – Christophe Roumier is one who says this – but I’ve not experienced any obvious examples, so from here-on, red it is…… Read More
arlaud vendanges – the reprise!
'Mark de Morey' was eventually found - not at the bottom of the destemmer, rather with a full inbox in his Blackberry - de rigeur for pickers this year you know! Trying to fix both that and his cherished camera slowed him down a little, but unbowed, here's the continuation of his story...

Domaine Arlaud Diary
Monday 29th Sept
My notes, now, several days later, tell me we did Morey Les Blanchards premier cru this morning and afternoon we did Morey Les Milandes premier cru although has been suggested we did the latter yesterday – your writer now confused.com !! By checking the Morey map in Coates latest tome am sure doing ‘Blanchards’ morning was correct – supported by one or two photos taken, including a couple of my fellow vendangeurs (male) pisse dans les vignes ! Virgile Lignier is the third generation of his family to work the vines of Morey St.Denis. He started to work with his father in 1988 at which time all the wine was sold in barrel to the négoce. Virgile says that his father, Maurice, was a good winemaker so… Read More
Morey Saint Denis: Village Profile
Once upon a time, nearly 1,000 years ago… a terrible famine struck the area and people of Morey. They were already wine-makers, but had little to feed themselves – no cows, just a few chickens. At that time the forest of Cîteaux was close by and, on the other side… Read More
a few days in the côtes
Thursday was an early start. First appointment (over 2 and a half hours drive away) was in Morey at 9:30am, then in Beaune to taste before lunch and back to Morey for two afternoon appointments – I couldn’t organise it any better, but ended the day with L&A Lignier, Segiun-Manuel,… Read More
