2007 Clerget Christian Vosne-Romanée Les Violettes

Width, and a nice density to the aromas. Ripe and fresh with grainy tannin. Nice width and a good finish. Without seeing the price, what’s not to like? This is very nice.

2007 Clos Frantin Gevrey-Chambertin Les Murots

Higher tones, a little herb and nice red fruit – this is very pretty. Ripeness and good tannin. Velvety with good, high-toned red fruit also into the finish. Pretty wine.

2007 Forey Père et Fils Vosne-Romanée

A nice density of fruit on the nose. Sweet, but not too sweet fruit and some savoury elements. Good tannin grab and overall dimension. Very nice this.

2007 Terres d'Arômes Savigny-lès-Beaune Blanc

By on March 31, 2009 #asides

The grapes are from a south-east exposed slope. Squeeky-clean aromas jump from the glass. The palate is fresh and ripe with an understated padding of fat. Full of flavour, slightly exotic but with perfect freshness. Lots of excitement in the glass.

High tones and lots of pretty red fruits on the nose. Sweet red fruit and a grainy tannin that slowly creeps up on you. . Balancing acidity and a good long finish. A nice start.

2007 Terres d'Arômes Monthelie Blanc

The nose is very fresh yet with more ripe-fruit aromas than the Savigny. The fruit flavours are also quite ripe in the mouth, but not at the expense of freshness as the acidity bubbles through nicely.

2007 Gerbet Marie–Andrée et Chantal Vosne-Romanée Aux Réas

There’s more depth of fruit on the nose after the ‘basic’ Vosne. Again the fruit profile is sweet, though this label wears a little more tannin and excitement in the mid-palate. Similar length of finish, but here the flavour shows a little more barrel today. Very good.

2007 Terres d'Arômes Monthelie Les Riottes

Aromatically tighter, again with some perfumed notes. Much finer tannin here, this is really well put together, it’s fresh and shows a good burst of interest in the mid-palate with flavours that slowly fade in the finish. This is super for the village.

2007 Grivot Jean Vosne-Romanée Bossières

A good, quite transparent melange of red and black fruits. Seems less obviously ripe and sweet versus most wines – a hint of licorice and good ripe tannin. Plenty of structure though nothing obviously out of place.
