Medium, medium-plus colour. Warm, comfortable dark red fruit. There is freshness and a nice minerality to the structure – there is some power here.

2007 Chanson Père et Fils Beaune Clos des Fèves

Medium colour. Aromatically very interesting; with a mix of herbs and deeper, darker fruit. Very well made; mouth-filling, enough but not too much fat, a little velvet. Plenty of balance comes from the dark red fruit with a hint of oak. Really lovely.

Medium colour. Less width but much more depth of fruit. This is a little sweeter and friendlier but has a structure not to be under-estimated. There’s a long, mineral finish.

2003 Chanson Père et Fils Le Bourgogne

Medium-plus cherry-red. The nose is very 2003, forward red and black cherry liqueur. Well concentrated, chocolatey, shaded to black fruit, slightly drying, but not too grainy tannin with good sweetness. Another highly recommended 2003 bourgogne. I’ve bought a few more for the summer months to come!
