Pierre Vincent, whilst officially still with the domaine until the end of this year, seems to be much less ‘visible’ in Puligny-Montrachet…

Louis on the 2022s:
“The Pucelles and grand crus are assembled ready to bottle. The Mâcons are already bottled and commercial. Our 2022s flowered at the end of May, and our harvesting began 25th August. It was a warm vintage, with no neither hail nor frost producing wines with good balance and not very high alcohols.“

The wines…

A little shorter tasting than usual at this address – but the quality of the wines has shone through for a number of vintages now – they are on a very good run…

DIAM seals here since the 2014 vintage.

2022 Mâcon-Verzé
Medium volume to this aroma but with some good freshness. Juicy, broad, growing in intensity. Very nice balance and delicious.

2022 Pouilly-Fuissé 1er En Vignerais
The last was tank elevage, this barrel.
More yellow fruit and an extra grain of aromatic complexity. More generous – there’s extra depth to this flavour too – the barrel not obvious except in the shape of the wine. Excellent.

2022 Bourgogne
Three large parcels bringing 4 hectares, all in the commune of Puligny. 10% new oak.
Vibrant quite mineral aromas too. Stricter and more direct than the Pouilly with a more present balance. More rustic but also more intense and vibrant than the PF too !!

2022 Puligny-Montrachet
4.6 ha from around the village.
Extra drive and direction – this is super. Here it’s the structure that’s more visible – chiselled but never hard. Thats very impressive, just a faint softening of the edges great finishing
2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Clavoillon
This vineyard was planted to red in the early 1900s. Today Leflaive has a virtual monopoly of this large climat, as such it serves as their ‘laboratory’ a place where they try different treatments
Ooh thats got a lovely central note of vibrant mandarin aroma. Hmm, in the mouth too – vibrant, great shape, super finishing. One of the best Clavoillon I ever tasted here – I said that in 2020 too !!
2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Folatières
From two parcels, just above Clos de la Garenne, usually the first harvested as this is a hotter location.
This has more width but a similar orange citrus and faint floral. Extra width, juicy, vibrant energy again. Broader flavour. As good as the Clavoillon with a little more aromatic complexity and an extra vibrancy in the finish.
2022 Bâtard-Montrachet
A more floral width to this aroma, complex but not the orange citrus of the previous wines. More generous in the mouth, more textural, depth, depth and depth to this flavour. Another level of finishing clarity and longer but more subtly longer.
2022 Chevalier-Montrachet
From the middle of the first terrace above Montrachet
Vibrant, more obviously mineral, faintly reductive. The reduction in the flavours is also visible, vibrant and intense, and impressively mineral. Really a next level of finishing complexity and length. That will be a great one.
