Laurence on 2013
It was small harvest in 2013 though about the same as 2012, delivering 46 hl/ha. The wines were already in bottle here – bottling was at the end of July to be ready for the harvest..

The wines…

I found this an excellent address for 2013s…

2013 Petit Chablis
A hint of perfume and faintly floral too. Quite big in the mouth with fine mouth-watering flavour. Fine Petit Chablis.
2013 Chablis
Higher tones with some fine citrus notes. More acidity but also more intensity of flavor too. Really a very good, long line of flavor, here – again with quite a perfumed accent. Très long, bravo!

2013 Chablis 1er Montmains
Fine and delicate, really rather pretty if far from imposing. Wide and showing good concentration – indeed a hint of padding too. A wine not just of finesse but length too. Very pretty but not a bit facile. Very, very good.

2013 Chablis 1er Montmains Vieilles-Vignes
From 55 year-old vines.
Whilst fine and fresh, this has a clear, deeper and riper fruit note. Bigger and a little rounder in the mouth. Similar slight padding and a little more of a burst of flavour in the finish. Very good.

2013 Chablis 1er Mont de Milieu
The aromas are rather tight; a little working of the glass delivers transparent and fine detail with a hint of salt. Bigger and much silkier wine – a real extra dimension of concentration and complexity here – you would think grand cru after the others. More contemplative, certainly, but balanced and very fine.
2013 Chablis 1er Vaillons
Much more weight of aroma here, even if it’s still a little tight. Bright attack, plenty of intensity, more dynamic and with a good chunk of flavour weight in the mid-palate too. I like this very much – a wine of real dynamism and assured concentration.
2013 Chablis Blanchots
Floral top-notes and fine aromatic depth – a more obviously complex palette. Another wine of dynamism, though less round and padded than the Mont de Milieu but with more complexity than any other – very faintly accented with saltiness. Really super wine – excellent!
