Laurence on 2013:
“Quite a small harvest of 40-45 hl/ha. The premiers in particular delivered about 35-40% less. We were very lucky to have finished our harvest just before the first drops of rain fell.”

The wines…

Everything was vinified in tank; the vieilles-vignes and Homme Mort were bottled in April, the Demoiselle in July and the Fourchaume in August. A set of wines whose freshness and intensity belie the ‘rich’ vintage descriptions – an excellent address for 2013s…

2013 Petit Chablis
A little yellow. A nice depth and some sweetness. Round, with some sweetness and almost a tarte tatin flavour. Very nice and tasty. Impossible not to enjoy given the price…

2013 Chablis
They make three bottlings, settling orders are y are needed. In theory it starts the same wine but there are of-course some small differences due to longer/shorter elevages.
Quite deep, faintly floral and quite airy. Round with some sweetness and just a little richness. Super mid-palate intensity and good energy. Yum!

2013 Chablis Vieilles-Vignes
First vines planted by father in 71-72…
Wider and with more herb – really quite a nice aromatic. A little fresher and with a more saline note, almost an iodine with faint minerality. More depth of complexity here. Very good!

2013 Chablis Demoiselle
Vinified separately, south facing, normally with a little more finesse and dryness versus the vv.
a nice depth of aroma with a little seashore. Fills the mouth and then there is a fine mouth-watering flavour to follow. A long line of elegant flavour in the finish. A wine of finesse… And another with some perfume impression in the mouth

2013 Chablis 1er Fourchaume
High-tones, very fine and pretty almost floral. Lovely width and purity of flavour – lovely! Even more impressive is the intensity that follows you swallowing. A perfectly fresh and complex yet still elegant wine. Excellent!

2013 Chablis 1er Homme Mort
More high tones almost grapefruit aroma. A little more minerality, very dynamic, lovely mouth-watering flavour – again lovely freshness in these wines – I’m enjoying them very much.
