2009 Leflaive Bâtard-Montrachet

A little less floral, more depth. Full again in the mouth – there is power and energy here – but beautiful balance. A lovely river of mouth-watering flavours.

Medium yellow. Typical toasty nose of quite some depth and eventually sings with high-toned notes – the last drops showing an intensity more like a red wine. The palate is jam-packed, showing good texture and always interest. Again, very, very good.

The colour is just a faint shade deeper than the Bienvenues. Similar oaky depth to the nose but rounder in shape, slowly lets some higher tones escape. An extra depth on the mid-palate, more mouthwatering and certainly longer. This wine has tons of material and makes a compelling statement – really excellent.

Medium yellow colour. Heavy musky nose, a little cream and still plenty of oak. There’s gorgeous acidity and a very impressive length. Beautiful texture – lovely. Concentration without weight – gorgeous and very young.
