Boisset Jean-Claude

2009 Boisset Jean-Claude Chambolle-Musigny

Good colour. Full aromas. In the mouth, despite decent concentration, this seems very tight. Just a little tannin and pretty fruit before the finish.

Hard for this to follow the Charmes. Good and interesting aromatic width – seems younger, but also less involving than the Charmes. Less concentrated but has super poise. Young and pretty villages.

Seven barrels from 3 separate vineyards – all from the top of the village. Medium, medium-plus colour. Very pretty, perfumed and almost silky aromatics. Full of finesse, an extra mid-palate dimension of dark fruit flavours finishing with a faint astringency. Very serious villages wine – worth checking prices…

A blend of 4 plots which will account for 3,000 bottles. An understaedly fragrent nose. In the mouth it’s a little rounder and has similar concentration to the Morey, but it’s much less complex. Lovely

This is a blend of 3 different vineyards all located at the top of the village, Grégory says that you really need to wait much longer to harvest here and that the results are much more interesting than from the vineyards below the village. After the Serpentières this is a narrow, focused nose over a brooding and denser creamy base. It’s a wide vista on the palate with velvet tannins and a very good length. This is a very understated and uncomplicated wine and highly recommended.
