As far as I can remember, this is my first wine from ‘Pierre Amiot’. Actually the label says it is bottled by Jean-Louis and Didier Amiot – next generation? I’m sure there’s a story therein, and given how nice this wine was, I think it’s a story worth following…
2010 Pierre Amiot, Morey St.Denis
Medium, medium-plus colour. The nose has a powdery dark fruit, not quite musty, but it anyway gets cleaner and glossier in the glass. Hmmm – this is lovely! – Smooth entry, beautiful acidity and showing an intensity of fresh, darkly-fruited flavour. The tannin’s not particularly grainy though shows a little stickiness. Just a little creamier flavour in the finish. ‘Yum’ certainly covers it…
Rebuy – Yes

The ones I’ve tried have been lovely wines – generally lighter style, but mostly quite bright and red fruited. Really like their Gevrey Combottes.
I believe jean-Louis and Didier are brothers of Christian at Amiot-Servelle. They lost some of their Grand Crus (Clos St Denis ?) when Pierre died recently. As far as I remember Jean-Louis was also head of the Morey growers syndicate at some stage.
Thanks Michael – that significantly increases my level of knowledge!

Hi Bill, nice you’ve enjoyed the wine we drank as first after returning form the Côtes last week (it appears we already had this wine in our cellar bought May this year)/ Very tasty and yummie indeed.
Warner knows the Domaine well… but from 2009 & 2010 still three grand Cru’s were available: Charmes Chambertin, Clos St Denis and Clos de la Roche. The difference with the GC Les Combottes (my favorite) however is minimal.
