2 reports: burgundy report’s autumn 2009 & vougeraie’s newsletter #29

vougeraie_29The Autumn 2009 Burgundy Report is finally online. You’ve already seen the ‘Vintage Viewpoint’, but amongst others, there are reports of my walk in the vines of Corton with Aubert de Villaine and Didier Dubois and a review of Clive Coates ‘warts’n’all’ recent book.

Now that’s done I’ve found time to do a little tidying up. This newsletter from Domaine de la Vougeraie has been hanging around in my inbox for a while, but since quite a lot of you downloaded the last issue, I thought you may also like this one…
Cheers

    Bill,

I was intrigued by 2 comments from the very readable Vougeraie newsletter relating such to my Pernand 09 vendange, namely
    a) the comment on yields in Savigny – we too saw some incredible weight of grapes on some sections of vineyard, the likes of which I’d never seen in other vendange(s) and
    b) the comment about the shine, or was it luminosity, on the Chardonnay. I remember particularly noticing something similar one hot afternoon – although now I’ll admit I can’t remember if it was Chard or Aligote. The grapes certainly looked fabulous – both white and red.

    Hi Mark,
Re luminosity, that was mentioned a couple of times by Philippe Prost in respect of some of vines that sit near the quarries (Meursault/Nuits) and the reflections from the light rock…
    Cheers
