Medium-plus cherry red. The nose starts with an overcoat of plummy fruit, slowly removed to reveal a more earthy black cherry centre. The palate is fat and soft with good acidity and slightly grainy tannin. The fruit is again shaded to black and shows very good length though there is a little bitterness to the lingering fruit. This is certainly what I would describe as modern in style – eminently drinkable even if I’d never guess it was from Nuits!

Medium ruby with a bright cherry red rim. The nose is a tasty high toned red cherry and raspberry affair. The palate shows surprisingly intense red fruit, good fat and well mannered slightly drying tannins. The fat gives the impression that (maybe) the acidity is a little low, but this was perfect with Christmas dinner. A real find!
2001 Château de Puligny-Montrachet Chassagne-Montrachet
A blend from three different vineyards. Just a little darker in colour. A deeper nose, more sumptuous and floral, at first I thought ripe pear fruit, but before emptying the glass I decidied it was more pineapple. More concentration and depth on the mid-palate than the Clos du Château. There’s a super little burst/flourish of fruit on the finish. This is a lovely villages.

An assemblage of parcels from the right bank of the Serein River, between the Montée de Tonnerre and Mont de Milieu. Bright, pale gold colour. A pure sweet nose with a trace of melon and lemon. A lovely ‘zing’ of acidity, mineral and very long. This would make a perfect aperitif, or perhaps as Véronique suggests with oysters! Very good.
